Hi, friends! Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start. It has been a while since I posted a blog post and it's been even longer since I posted a real life update.....I had these pictures ready to go but was struggling to come up with a post topic so I figured I'd just catch you up on my life lately. It has been a busy summer and as of last week I only have six months to go until I turn 30.....yikes! I came up with this 30 before 30 list a few years ago and have been slowly chipping away at it but now it is time to get down to business! Time is running out!

Before we get into my summer adventures, though, I wanted to take a second to talk about this pretty Swarovski crystal necklace! The pendent makes such a statement without being over the top and the chain is adjustable so you can make it short or long depending on what you are wearing. It's from Roma Designer Jewelry and you can get 20% off site wide with code AMANDASOK20 (plus orders over $50 ship free). I think this pendant would look beautiful with a v-neck top or a strapless dress! I paired it with my Swarovski Tennis Bracelet from Roma and this cute little Impeccable Pig romper which C hates but oh well, what do men know about fashion amirite?!

Alright.....now lets talk life! As I said, it has been a busy summer! It seems like almost every weekend has had something going on and if there isn't anything going on, I'm playing catch up from week's past! We've been traveling much less than we did in 2018 which is a bit of a bummer but it is nice to be able to stay home, stay in a routine and control our diets better.

My mom and I went to Paris and London back in April and had such a fabulous time; it seemed like once we got home I hit the ground running! I was only home for a week before heading to Miami for a work conference. I keep telling myself, "Just make it through this week and then you'll have a break..." HA. That's cute. It never ends. Truth be told, though, I wasn't a fan of the Miami scene but I did enjoy the mojitos and the chance to get Ladurée macarons!

I stopped teaching classes at Beyond Studios in May because my work life, personal fitness and blog was just too much to balance while waking up at 4:30 a.m. and teaching both morning and night classes a few days a week. I was really sad to give it up, but I still take pilates classes at Beyond weekly and really enjoy it! It's a great active recovery that stretches and strengthens and leaves me shaky and sore (in a good way).

Speaking of personal fitness, I'm finally feeling mostly recovered from shoulder surgery. I've been back at crossfit since October-ish and taking things slowly, but I'm feeling strong and capable. I've been able to do snatches, lots of overhead work, a couple kipping pull ups and some toes through rings ... all things I wasn't sure I'd ever do again! I also am only five pounds away from my pre-surgery power clean PR. I know I still have a ways to go until I'm back to where I was, but I'm finally at a point where I'm proud of myself again and not frustrated. I'm hoping to enter a local competition in February (just for fun) to give myself something to work towards.

Last week we went on our first ever (and hopefully annual) Martin Family Vacation! C, myself, + his parents, brother, sister-in-law and our niece, Stella, headed to the mountains. C's aunt and uncle live in Crested Butte so we hung out with them for a long weekend and had such a great time. We visited CB in the winter with friends and it was so neat to see the same mountain town again in the summer. We hiked, we went on a trail ride, we rafted, we ate, we shopped and we relaxed. It was a much needed getaway! Colorado is BEAUTIFUL in the summer and it made coming home to the 100+ degree heat pretty miserable haha. Remind me why I live in Oklahoma??! Currently counting the days until fall..... if you asked me ten years ago if I preferred beach trips or mountain trips I would have said beach but now-a-days, I'm going mountains 100% of the time, no matter the season! I won't be doing a blog post on this trip since it was a family trip, but you can read my previous Crested Butte post here!

I'm currently trying to convince C to go on one more trip this year (hopefully somewhere with fall foliage) and I have a girl's trip to New York Fashion Week coming up in September! So excited for that! We are also heading to Dallas with friends to watch the Rangers play and my sweet little cousin Ava is coming to OKC in a few weeks to ride her horse in the AQHYA World Show! I'm so proud of her and can't wait to cheer her on. Speaking of horses, I've been on several trail rides recently and it has ignited a spark!! I grew up riding and showing and am itching to get back into it. I signed up for adult riding lessons and I start this week....I.Am.PUMPED.

Other than that, I'm just looking forward to all things fall over here and trying to get myself (slash keep myself) in a solid healthy eating / working out routine. We are planning a BIG overseas trip next year for our five year anniversary and I want to be extra fit for it :) any guesses on where we'll be headed?

Now for my 30 before 30 update.....here's what I have left to complete in six months! Help hold me accountable, please!

  1. Ride a horse on the beach ..... just waiting on C to take me on a beach vacay! ;)
  2. Love my job. Does anyone ever really love their job? I mean, your job is always work. I do like my job but love is a strong word and as I've grown older I've learned that if you turn something you love into "work" you start to love it less. Food for thought.
  3. Volunteer. Ooof, I'd love to volunteer at Oklahoma Humane Society but 1) finding the time is difficult and 2) I'm afraid I'd come home with too many stray animals lol
  4. Host a dinner party. Who wants an invite??
  5. Start a veggie or herb garden. I am the killer of all plants. TBD on this.
  6. Beat an old school video game again. I'm thinking Mary Kate + Ashley Get a Clue or Crazy Castle on gameboy color.
  7. Start riding horses again. Starting lessons on Wednesday!!! I'm so excited.
  8. Pay off my student loans. Only a few hundo away.
  9. Perform a random act of kindness. Any ideas or suggestions??
  10. Learn what wines pair with what foods. HELP ME.
  11. Find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop. Who's gonna count for me?
  12. Turn 30 in style. As in on a fancy vacation or at a glamorous party.

I'm glad to see I'm over halfway there! Check out my original list to see what I've already completed. What exciting things are going on in your life as of late? Anything you're looking forward to? I'd love to hear!

Thanks so much for reading and have a great week!
