My Top (part of the #NSale) | My Necklace | C's Shirt | C's Watch
If you've been following my posts for long, you know I regularly mention 'C'. Welp, C is my A++ hubby, Cole, and today I'm introducing you to him!

Our Meet Cute: Back in '07, I was checking out Oklahoma State University on a campus visit. My family and I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites; my mom made a comment about how the boy at the front desk seemed to think I was cute. I guess I thought nothing of it.

The Perfect Top for Work or Play

Top | Shorts | Sandals | Monogram Necklace | Beaded Bracelet
Can I get a hallelujah that today is Friday? I caught a stomach bug earlier this week and haven't been feeling too great ever since, so I'm extra excited to catch up on rest this weekend and enjoy some quiet time with C. We have no major plans, but I have a lot of exciting things in the works for Amanda's OK! I'll be shooting several campaigns over the weekend + there is a beach babe giveaway going on right now (enter on my Instagram) and several more surprises coming in the next few weeks. I can't wait to share them all with you!

Orange Dress for Football Season

Dress, Similar Here and Here | Tory Burch Sandals | Kendra Scott Necklace | Similar Orange Necklace | Prada Sunnies, also love these for $12!
Who else is counting the days until football season kicks off? Its no secret, but the Martin Family bleeds some serious orange. The whole family has season tickets and we go to every Oklahoma State home game, so obviously I have to have a different outfit for each one. No outfit repeating on game day!

Good morning guys!! I hope everyone's weekend was cooler than mine (literally) - the AC in my car went out on the way to my parent's house in NW Arkansas with both of my long haired mountain dogs in the car with me - I thought we were all going to get heat stroke before we got there! It's safe to say I'm 100% ready for fall weather now, ha!

AOK Guide to NYC

Friends asking for my NYC recommendations has become quite the regular occurrence. I have a draft  email saved that I reference each time, but I thought it would be even easier to put it in a blog post! If you're interested, I'd love to create guides to all of the cities I know and love like Oklahoma City, Seattle, Austin and beyond.

Black, White & Famous

Top (40% off) | Shorts | Necklace | Steve Madden Sandals (sold out), Similar Here | Prada Sunnies, also love these for $12!

Soooooo....... We had a celebrity sighting this week! Tammin Sursok who plays Jenna (the blind girl) on Pretty Little Liars was AT MY HOUSE (!!!!). She and her husband, who is a producer, were scouting out locations to film a movie in OKC and stopped at my neighbor girl's lemonade stand. She is much nicer in real life than on PLL, haha. Any other PLL fans out there? I still haven't watched the last few seasons, (thanks to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade giving away who A was a few years back....) but now I'm inspired to start it back up!

You're probably sick and tired of hearing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale by now, but I don't care! I can't shop until Friday because I'm not a cardholder, so I still have a lot of decisions to make. C didn't approve of my $500 budget, hahaha.....so I'm having to downsize my shopping list a tad. My wish list is linked in the image above - maybe it will give you some ideas for your own shopping spree!? Several of these items are sold out, but I'm crossing my fingers and praying to the Nordstrom gods that they'll be restocked before the sale opens to the public.

Breakfast at Aurora

Top (50% off with code SUPERCLEAR) | Similar Shorts - on sale for $18! | Necklace | Watch | Bracelet | Shoes
Thanks to ya'll's help on IG,, I convinced C to take me to brunch last Sunday! I'd really been wanting to try Aurora, one of the new kids on the block, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Side note: Every time I say 'Aurora,' a Sleeping Beauty songs gets stuck in the my head....

Hail to the King
Hail to the Queen
Hail to the Princess Auroraaaa

Needless to say, Aurora easily made it's way onto our list of tastiest brunch places in OKC. One thing that really stuck out to me was that all of their food is locally sourced. I'm a huge aggregate of shopping local (except when it comes to Nordstrom or Target haha) so I really appreciated reading the list of suppliers on the menu!

My Favorite Drug Store Products

Most of the time, I'm a firm believer that the more expensive the product, the better the quality. This is most certainly true for shampoo, bacon, shoes and handbags, but I've found that when it comes to certain beauty products, sometimes I actually prefer the drugstore version - go figure! So, I thought I'd share some of the items I've grown to love with you guys.

I'm in Summer Mode

Top from Mode, Similar HereHere, Here and Here | Similar Shorts | NecklaceSole Society Backpack (sold out) - Similar Here and Here | Shoes
Ah, Monday, we meet again. I always feel like I end the weekend feeling more tired than when it started - anyone else that way?? It seems like no matter how many days you have off, you always need just one more. We had a relatively busy weekend full of errands and chores and house work, but we did get to go to a friend's house warming party AND I convinced C to go to brunch - I'll be sharing our thoughts on Aurora later this week, so stay tuned!

Date Night in OKC

Cold Shoulder Top - 50% off! | Jeans (my all time favs) | Necklace | Bracelet | Designer Dupe Heels

It's Fridaaaaaay!!!! Even though this was a short work week, I couldn't be more excited about the weekend. The last few weekends have been extra busy and filled with fun (and WAY too much food) so I'm looking forward to having a slightly more low-key weekend this time around. And a super healthy one, ha!

The N-Sale Lowdown

V-Neck Top | Necklace | Similar Shorts | Designer Dupe Sandals

Confession: I'm getting really tired of my closet and bored with all the summer trends on the market right now. I just can't find anything that I like enough to buy! I have plenty of off-the-shoulder tops, way too many pom-poms and my fair share of sandals...... I'm over it.

Thank goodness the N-Sale starts next week so I can start shopping again! And for FALL!! My favorite season! My favorite clothes! I'm so basic...sue me.

For those that don't know, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale comes once a year and is their biggest and best sale EVER. It's basically like Christmas for the fashionistas of the world (and the sale totally tops Black Friday). Nordstrom releases a ton of new fall and winter stuff (think: scarves, booties, cardis, leggings, fleece) and they mark it waaaaay down. Normally sales are to get older items off the shelves, but the N-Sale releases brand new items by big brands at a majorly discounted price!

The N-Sale starts on July 13 for Nordstrom Card Holders ONLY. This really sucks for non-card holders because a lot of the good items get snatched up quick. Nordstrom supposedly re-stocks everything before it opens to the public on July 21, but if you want to make sure you have first dibs, you can sign up for a card on their website. You can even get a $20 note if you sign up and make a purchase before July 9.

Talk about a marketing strategy.

I hope your husband is more lenient than mine, he won't allow me to get another credit card, therefore forcing me to wait until July 21 to get my shop on. Womp womp. The sale lasts through August 6, though, and a lot of items do get restocked because people make returns.

Last year was my first time to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale....I literally set my alarm for the middle of the night so I could shop it the second it opened. Even then, some of the items were sold out in my size/color choice before I could even check out! It was INSANE. I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars and felt broke for months after, but it was totally and completely worth it haha. I got my entire fall wardrobe in one shopping trip and wore all of my purchases on repeat! Some of them (like this v-neck) are still in my regular rotation.

We don't have a Nordstrom in Oklahoma, so I have to shop the sale 100% online. But that's fine because I consider myself to be a professional online shopper at this point. I have been known to get some sale anxiety - I mean, only so many pairs of shoes and leggings can be stollen out of my cart before I lose it! But I've learned from my mistakes and am here to give you my best tips and trips for shopping the N-Sale (especially if you're a non-card holder like your's truly). Be prepared to see a LOT about it these next few weeks - from me and every other blogger you follow!

  • Browse the N-Sale catalog to get an idea of what will be included
  • If you're not a cardholder, browse your favorite blogger's picks and add them to your Nordstrom wish list.
  • Make a priority list and plan out your purchases. Set a price limit. Know what items are #1 MUSTS and have backups in place. DO THIS AHEAD OF TIME. I'm not kidding when I say there will be no time to waste when the sale opens to the public. Shit gets cray.
  • Double and triple check your internet connection and make sure your laptop is fully charged.
  • Make sure your credit card info is saved in your Nordstrom account so you don't waste time entering it in the dark.
  • When the clock strikes 12 on July 21, head to your Nordstrom wish list and start clicking 'add to cart' like a mad woman.
  • If you're iffy on a size, buy both! If you're not sure on an item, buy it anyway. Things sell out FAST and nothing haunts you more than the things you didn't buy. Plus, Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns.....they got yo back, girl.
  • If something you want is sold out, keep checking back repeatedly because a lot of stuff gets restocked (or people return sizes) before the sale comes to a close.

I'll be sharing my N-Sale wish list soon, so keep an eye out! In the mean time, start saving your pennies because you're gonna need 'em.

Thanks for reading, ya'll!

The Best 4th of July Dessert

Top from Koda Crossfit, similar here and here | Similar Shorts here and here | Nike Shoes | Similar Pot Holders | Le Creuset Dish - color is Ocean
Happy Birthday, America!! Well, tomorrow anyway. Today I'm at work doing the 8 - 5 while C is at home celebrating a four-day weekend. Life is unfair. However, as soon as the workday comes to a close, we're hopping in the car with the pups and heading to the land of milk and honey: Stillwater, Okla. My in-laws live in my sweet little college town and we're crashing their pool for the holiday (aka crashing their pantry and liquor cabinet, too).

Today, though, my office is throwing a little 3rd of July BBQ potluck for those of us who are at work. I nominated myself to bring my favorite summer dessert, Blueberry Crunch. I've been making this dump cake every year for the 4th since I was a pre-teen - it's just not Independence Day without it! Maybe it should be called Red White and BLUEberry Dessert?

If you're looking for something quick, cheap and delicious to throw together before tomorrow's festivities, this is it! It's literally the easiest thing ever to make - you just open some cans and boxes, melt some butter, and layer it all up in a 9 x 13. Easy peasy! It's delicious served with vanilla ice-cream or topped with whipped cream.....or for by itself for breakfast, whatever! It's just as good chilled and leftover as it is warm, if not better!

Blueberry Crunch
Ingredients

  • 20 oz can crushed pineapple
  • 2-3 cups blueberry pie filling
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions
Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13, spread pineapple and blueberry pie filling. Sprinkle 3/4 cups of sugar over top evenly. Then, add in layers: dry cake mix, melted butter, pecans, 1/4 cup sugar. Bake at 350 for 35 - 40 minutes or until cake mix is a light golden brown.

As you all know, I normally try to stick to a relatively healthy diet.......and this dish is anything but healthy. However, part of being healthy is knowing how to balance. I've been that person who takes it to another level, all or nothing, and I ended up going crazy. Being overly strict for too long leads to 1) not enjoying life anymore and 2) going overboard and bingeing/eating everything in sight -- neither of which are healthy! That being said, I plan to enjoy one large serving of Blueberry Crunch today for the sake of a healthy mind and get back on the healthy body train shortly thereafter. Indulging every now and then is not going to derail your progress, and sometimes you gotta keep your brain in-tact before you can keep your tummy in-check. Ya feel me?

If you make Blueberry Crunch, you'll have to let me know how it turns out! It's equally as delicious if you use cherry pie filling in place of the blueberry + pineapple mixture....just saying!

Do you have any favorite recipes for the 4th? I'd love to hear! Stay safe tomorrow and enjoy the Party in the USA!
