Happy Hump-Day, friends! I'm beyond excited to share this post with you today. I'm collaborating with Lauren Grigg Photography to share inspiration and tips on what to wear for photoshoots! Whether you're doing an engagement shoot, a family session, senior pics or just having fun, your outfit can make or break the photos.

Now, let's back up a sec. I want to introduce you to my friend, Lauren, the girl behind the lens. Lauren was actually my little in our college sorority. She has a degree from Oklahoma State in Nutrition, but she recently discovered her love for photography and started her business, Lauren Grigg Photography, LLC. She is so, so talented!! What is really neat, is her passion for film photography. Almost anyone can work a DSLR camera these days and call themselves a photographer, but it takes a true master to understand and operate a film camera. I was so impressed by her knowledge and skill!

Lauren lives in a small Oklahoma town outside of OKC with her husband, Logan. Funny story, we recently discovered that Logan's cousin is married to my cousin - go figure! All these years of being 'phamily' through Sigma Phi Lambda, and now we are actually related.

So, how do you style the perfect outfit for a photoshoot?

  1. Pick light, neutral and pastel colors. I think we can all agree that white is the new black! These colors show up best in pictures and compliment each other.
  2. Avoid small patterns or prints like houndstooth or thin stripes. The more simple, the better.
  3. Coordinate, but don't match. For example, if you're doing a shoot with another person and your man has on a plaid shirt, you could wear a solid top that matches one of the colors in his plaid pattern.
  4. Combine statement pieces with simplicity - like my statement skirt paired with a simple white tank (it also looks cute with a v-neck tee knotted in the front)! I love mixing dressy items with casual items. Try a dressy top with boyfriend jeans and pumps sometime; it's a favorite of mine.
  5. Wear something you're comfortable in. If you're paying for a photoshoot, you'll most likely be displaying these photos for years to come. You want to feel good about the way you look in them, plus you want them to scream YOU! Wearing clothes that compliment your body and fit your style will help.

How gorgeous are these photos? I love how light and airy they are. I had so much fun laughing our way through this shoot. I wish Lauren could follow me around every day because she was gushing with sweet words and made me feel so beautiful.

If you are in need of photos for a wedding, engagement, graduation, baby, Christmas cards or just because, I can't recommend Lauren enough! Check our her portfolio here or give her blog a follow and tell her I sent you.
