The Solution for My Not-So-Green Thumb

I like to think that I am pretty dang good at interior decorating.... I designed an entire home renovation single handedly, after all. But when it comes to landscaping, I am at a loss. I knew I wanted some sort of something on either side of my front door, but I didn't know what.

Ever since we moved in to the White House on the Prairie, I've tried to put live plants on the front porch. I don't exactly have a green thumb.....so it has been a bit of a struggle, to say the least. The rosemary plants froze, the flowers died (probably from lack of water, oops!), the ferns got too much sun, and the little evergreen trees I bought on clearance needed about 15 feet more space to grow. I had just about given up when I got these mini cedar trees from Plantscape Inc.

Plantscape Inc., out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a leading national interior landscape firm that has been around since 1974. They offer a wide variety of artificial and silk plants ranging from trees and topiaries to flowers that will fit any need. The larger plants are a little on the pricey side, but considering their "life expectancy" and overall quality, I think they are well worth it.

My trees couldn't be any more perfect for the front porch. They look completely real from the street - only on close inspection to you realize they are artificial. I scored the distressed pots as a hand-me-down from my mother-in-law, stuck the cedar trees inside and filled them with wood chips to make them look realistic (and to keep them from toppling over in the Okla. wind). I love how they turned out! The best part, of course, is that they are 100% maintenance free, so I can't kill 'em! I thought they would be slightly taller (that's what happens when you never pay attention to measurements....), but in hindsight I'm glad they are only two feet tall. They fit the space perfectly. I can't wait to string mini twinkle lights on them during the holidays. I'm considering ordering a few other pieces to go on my back patio, 'cause ya know the plants I have out there now won't survive much longer!

Now, let's talk about this outfit for a hot second. I scored this off-the-shoulder top on major clearance from Anthropologie! It is such high quality and would be perfect for a dinner date. It makes me feel like such a 1950s housewife, looking all fab for when my hubby comes home after work. I paired it with boyfriend jeans to tone down the dressiness, but it would look amazing with pearls and dark skinnies or a pencil skirt, too! Unfortunately it is sold out, but I linked several similar tops in the widget below.

Thanks for reading, guys. Wishing you an amazing week!

I received these products from Plantscape Inc. in exchange for an honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
