Little known fact: I went to a private school and had to wear a polo shirt and pleated khaki skirt every.single.day of high-school. I became an expert in the field of following the dress code while still making a statement (that, and changing clothes in the car). I didn't realize it at the time, but those were skills I'd carry with me into my career!
These days, my dress code is significantly better and easier to follow, but I still have to be mindful of my work attire. When dressing for work, I always choose one part of my outfit as "the statement piece" and build everything else around it. Sometimes I work around a pair of pumps, sometimes its a scarf or blazer, and other times its pants or a fun skirt. Today, it was
